Yeah, there's much more to Japan than anime. Think of the story of Nichiren Buddhism or how the Buddhist sects argued over which is the best. I also had to giggle over how many times Japan moved its capital each time a new emperor came into power.

Japan's got woodblock prints, ninja, samurai, daimyou (samurai with land), Hokusai (great Japanese artist who specialized in wooodblock prints and has a great eye for painting), kabuki, and much more history.

My favorites go between the Buddhist history and Kabuki history. Especially when removing women from kabuki did not solve the prostitution problem at all.

I think the folklore and mythology is colorful.
And I support Japan because that it's one of the only places where I get my gaming technology from.
